I am still quite charmed by the Drake's aesthetic and even whilst handling their clothes in the sample sale, if you can momentarily detach yourself from your surroundings - bargain bins filled with stuff and people running between them in a frenzy - the clothes do still look and feel really rather nice. I will stick with Crockett and Jones thanks.Ĭlick to expand.I share many of your thoughts and feelings in this regard but am also conflicted. Just the association is enough to make me think that the brand isn't for me. Weirdly, I wouldn't buy from Edward Green either now. I haven't bought a single thing from Drake's since. When I went to the sample sale in June and saw so much of the current season on sale at ludicrous prices I felt sick. I went a bit mad during lockdown and spent an absolute fortune - I have a denim chore coat, a tencel chore coat, a suede one, a trucker jacket, shirts, two raglan coats, t-shirts, scarves - the works. That is exactly my experience.- I started shopping with Drake's just over a year ago.
They make clothes in limited quantities, price them appropriately and have sensible sales (if they have sales at all). But all of them have a different ethos to Drake's. I now buy my shirts and coats and so on from brands with a slightly different aesthetic - Japanese brands mainly and Paynter for my chore jacket fixation (they just released a gorgeous denim jacket and they have an amazing coat coming up).
